Spring & Comparison – A Seasonal Perspective

Spring has shifted the internal climate.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this is the season of the Wood element — growth, direction, forward movement.

Spring amplifies what wants to move.

If comparison or jealousy has surfaced recently, consider this:

Wood is direction.

Wood is momentum.

Wood is growth that wants to move.

If your direction feels blocked, comparison sharpens. If your reserves are low, expansion feels unsafe.

Before reacting, ask:

Is this a direction issue — or a capacity issue?

One requires movement the other rest.

Respond accordingly. One aligned action. Or one deliberate restoration. Growth is not a race. It is seasonal.

Why this may feel stronger this year

Wood feeds Fire and is controlled by Water.

And the year of the Fire Horse (from Wood → to Fire) amplifies things.

In Fire-heavy times, if your foundation (Water/Kidneys) is low — exhaustion, insecurity, burnout — Fire feels like pressure instead of inspiration.

So if you feel out of balance with the early intensity of Fire. Feel the pull of activity in Spring unrelenting.

Nourishing the Water element, ourselves through softness, and slowing down with intention will help return to more balance.
